My name is Kate and I am a binge fitness-er. I get on a kick of working out daily for a few weeks and then burn out. I did a month of Pure Barre and quit (though that was strictly a cost decision. I loved that class). I joined Tone it Up and stopped using it. I logged on My Fitness Pal for months straight and fell off the wagon.
Basically I find it very difficult to stick to any plan. Most of my problem, I think, is that I have yet to figure out what motivates me. Yes I want to look better. Yes I want to feel confident in a bikini. But that ice cream- it's just so tasty!
I also set unrealistic goals (at least, unrealistic for me). I will tell myself I need to work out every day, twice a day. Then I sleep in and think "well, today is shot anyway, might as well go to Happy Hour tonight instead of the gym". So that doesn't work well.
But enough is enough. I am so tired of wishing my legs were more toned. "If only I could wear shorts" I would lament. The truth is I have absolutely nobody to blame but myself. I make excuses, I take the easy option, and I eat junk. And that sucks because that means I also have the ability to take control and make changes, which frankly, I have been avoiding for years.
So enough about my back story. Let's get to my goals.
- Weight doesn't mean that much to me, I'm in my range of "happy numbers" so I'm more based on how I feel
- I've always been on the petite side, but never in shape. I want to change this. I want to see muscle, and when I sit I want muscle definition in my thigh, not cellulite
- My "seat" as the Pure Barre girls call it is in desperate need of a pick me up
- I want to feel confident when Lake Weekend comes around, or friends want to have a pool day. I don't want the stress of needing to do a Slim Down before a big event
That's what I'm hoping to achieve, and here is how I will:
- Couch to 5K. I've never ever been a runner, but since I have cancelled my gym membership, this program is a great structured way for me to get in a good work out. I will do this the recommended 3 times a week for 9 weeks
- Personal Training three times a month- my cousin is a trainer and another cousin and I go in the mornings. Focus is on muscle development
- Tone it Up- I WILL utilize this resource! I will do one of their recommended videos at least twice a week
- BLOG. That's right, I'm hoping you will hold me accountable. If anybody actually does read this- especially anyone I know in real life- and you see I'm slacking call me out
Well that's it for now. Tonight: Day 1 of Couch to 5K. Then dinner with friends. Wish me luck that I can make good food choices!
